Backofthenet achievements

I have just finalized our game achievements system on BOTN.

Alot of you will get a few achievements over the next few days taking into account your total game history on BOTN.
When you gain an achievement you will be informed by PM you will also gain points for the achievement.

I'm very excited by this new feature I think its frickin awesome enjoy.

Crossbar Challenge

Time for a bit of fun with Aaronc333's Crossbar Challenge

The Challenge has been set, see if you can do the crossbar challenge on pes6, he did it using Gonzalo Rodríguez of villarreal

The Rules:

1) Must not use a slag player
2) Must be on the line in the center circle
3) Ball cant bounce, must be a clean hit
4) Must show a video of you doing it, don't just claim you did it

if u have trouble setting it up this is how you do it:

1) go to training
2) set up it up so your doing free kicks
3) go onto formation setting and make sure the goalkeeper is not playing
4) move the ball to half way line

MAN UNITED CROWNED CHAMPIONS OF ENGLAND

United have been crowned Premiership champions for a record ninth time after closest rivals Chelsea failed to beat Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

A first half penalty from Gilberto Silva gave Arsenal a 1-0 victory over Jose Mourinho's men who were reduced to ten men just before the break when Khalid Boulahrouz was sent off for a foul on Julio Baptista which led to the spot-kick.

Michael Essien levelled on 70 minutes but the Blues could find no way through after that in a hugely tense affair.

Twenty-four hours Chelsea had seen United secure a 1-0 win over local neighbours Manchester City on Saturday.

It's the ninth Premiership title the Reds have won under Sir Alex Ferguson and it's arguably their greatest ever triumph.

The Reds will be presented with the Championship trophy after their final game of the season against West Ham at Old Trafford on Sunday. Before that they face a mid-week trip to Stamford Bridge.

Victory in their next two games would give United a record Premiership points' total of 94 points.

Their best ever to date came at the end of the 1993/94 season when they finished on 92 points. They came within a point of that in 1999/2000 when they ended the campaign on 91.

Pro Evolution Soccer Activity on Xbox Live

For the first time in ages, maybe ever, Pro Evolution Soccer 6 has hit the top 10 spot for most played games this past week as reported by Major Nelson

Does this mean our beloved PES is on a come back after a bit of a dry patch? Are more people picking up this game after leaving it to try out fifa, or having a life?

Another reason could be simply because its been pretty decent weather outside, so most people go out and have fun etc, whilst us lot are so addicted we just stay in playing more and more games trying to get our Kudos higher lol.

Anyway maybe this is signalling a bit of a comeback for PES, I hope it is because things have been a bit slow recently.

On a related note signups for the new season here at backofthenet will be released extremely soon so keep your eyes peeled for when and how to register.

Xbox Pro Evo Tournament

Xbox Pro Evolution Soccer tournament? There is only one! And it is our regular minicup held here every sunday.

Big thanks to SupaJRehab for running it tonight and here is his take on tonights cup:

The Mini Cup.. what Backofthenet members look forward to on a Sunday. They flock the place from 8 onwards.. and on Mini Cup 64.. it filled within 2 or 3 minutes. A record more than likely.

The night started with some familar faces missing... and then the bad news for the rest of us... Aboosive is playing. He's won it more or less every week he's entered. Still.. he never got it easy from the start.. just about knocking out rudeboymacka by the 2 goals to 1.. he then went onto play Aaronc333 and beat him 2-0.. then beat SupaJ by 3 goals to nil.. majorturkish by 3 goals to 1 and then just pipping wellsnappa by making a brilliant comeback from 2 goals down to win 4-3. What a player.

We even had a 99-98 win tonight involving pete mushroom and macca.. what a hell of a game that would of been to watch. Don't believe me? Go and check yourself you cheeky prat! This was Pete Mushroom's first mini cup and to get to the semi final is some achievement.

Whens the mini cup you ask? Well, its on every Sunday 8.30 every week. Yes, 8.30. Be there or be square.

50 000 games and counting

Great news we have just had our 50 000 game played woop!

What started out as a mess about for chris(m0nkeymafia) and I under two years ago has turned into the best PES site on the internet for the Xbox Live service.

Speed up my browser

I have just done this on both of my browsers IE and FireFox and Its worked a treat my pages are loading so fast its untrue!

Apparently by default web browsers are setup to function with dial up 56 k and the like modems.
This tweak bumps it to work with broadband you will be amazed at the improvement in speed.







Here are some extra tweaks to speed up FireFox:


The video suggests that you set ’network.http.pipelining.maxrequests’ to '10'. I suggest you set it to '30' to get even more speed out of it.

Set ‘network.http.proxy.pipelining’ to ‘true’.

Right-click anywhere in the browser window and select New -> Integer. Name it ‘nglayout.initialpaint.delay’ and set it to '0'. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.
